Lagos, July 4: Nigeria’s police in restive northeast state of Borno has confirmed the killing of at least 10 persons after Thursday’s multiple suicide attacks in some parts of the state. Wailing women and stunned men wandered around the wreckage of smashed bricks and twisted zinc sheets blown off the church roof.

The bloodshed is the worst since Buhari came to power in May, vowing to root out the insurgency that has claimed more than 15,000 lives. Men were dragged from their homes in the middle of the night and killed. “Equally disturbing is the attack and killing of innocent people in a village of Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara state by some unknown gunmen”.

On Friday, Chadian security officials said they had seized a large weapons cache, including rockets, in a house in N’Djamena.

The killings follow those of about 150 people in villages earlier in the week.

“They wiped out the immediate family of my uncle…”

“The victims were well targeted because they were all residents of Gwargware village… who fled to Miringa some months ago to escape forced conscription by Boko Haram”.

“So we have been saying if you want to present Islam to the Muslim world or to non-Muslim, then you can not present Islam with [violence] or the way they are presenting it”.

There are fears Boko Haram is using some of its thousands of captives as weapons.

The residents in a letter to the Presidents through its spokesman, Alhaji Yusuf Zabarmari said Buhari must be proactive if he has to make any meaningful achievement in the fight against Boko Haram.

Boko Haram, which means “Western education is sinful”, is loosely modelled on the Taliban movement in Afghanistan.

“Nigeria and Cameroon need to have the best possible relations, to work together”, Hollande said, adding that that was the “spirit” of a previous conference in Paris in 2014.

The four countries – all of which border Lake Chad, a focal point of Boko Haram unrest – launched offensives against the militants early this year as it became apparent that the armed group was making big gains in Nigeria.
