Mets’ Cespedes leaves due to shoulder soreness

The Mets kept themselves occupied in New York while waiting to find out where they’ll travel for Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday.

Under that scenario, they’d have Matz and deGrom available out of the bullpen in Game 6 and/or 7 if they so choose.

New York Mets center fielder Yoenis Cespedes left Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday due to left shoulder soreness. “He came right off and told [trainer Ray Ramirez], “listen, my shoulder hurts and I don’t know if I can swing” and Ray said, ‘Can you lift your shoulder?’ and he couldn’t”. “We just had a meeting five minutes ago and I’m the only guy who’s got the sucker written down”.

“There can’t be a report”, Collins said. Cespedes did not attend Friday’s voluntary workout at Citi Field.

One place Cespedes won’t be again, at least until the offseason: the golf course.

“On the contrary”, Cespedes said when asked if golf could have contributed to the injury, per the New York Post. He didn’t have a bad sand shot or didn’t get stuck in the side of a bunker…. He was batting. 273 with two homers and seven RBIs in the playoffs coming into the night.
