Jaguars Blow Big Lead, Hold On to Beat Bills in London

The Jags have put up a few solid offensive numbers with Blake Bortles at quarterback, but the team still keeps losing and now they will try and get a victory overseas. They use it also with turnovers. And if London can get behind the Jaguars in the bad times, what would they do if the going ever got good?

Colvin and defensive end Andre Branch both had sack-fumbles and defensive tackles Abry Jones and Tyson Alualu also brought Manuel down for sacks. This team tends to fall flat when faced with adversity and that wasn’t the case on Sunday.

Bortles told reporters on Sunday that the Jaguars are unfamiliar with playing from a winning position. Manuel dropped a dime of a throw into Marcus Easley and every Bills fan was going nuts, saying “here we go again!”

The Falcons (6-1) bounced back from their first loss by grinding out a road win and overcoming two interceptions. The Bucs raced out to a 24-7 halftime lead, then watched the Kirk Cousin-led Washingtonians take it all away, en route to a 31-30 Alcoa Fantastic Finish.

Cool. But that’s not what matters most today. “No program or game, even one of questionable viewing content such as the Bills-Jags, should only be available via live streaming”. The pass rush didn’t fare too much better, though.

Yes, if the plays work, Roman looks like a genius. The All-22 tape should be an interesting view this week. Allen Hurns is coming in having a solid season and Allen Robinson had an injury that was not as serious as the team expected. Bryan Walters led in receiving with 87 yards in 12 receptions. I dare you – I double dog dare you – to name the 11 Vikings who caught passes in their 28-19 win at Detroit. Trailing 3-0, Bortles hit Allen Robinson on a 10-yard touchdown pass. Then the defense stepped up.

The Jaguars had plenty of things to celebrate about on Sunday, but short yardage play-calling was not one of them. They tried running Toby Gerhart four straight times and the Bills stood him up four straight time at the one. A surprise company to see was Seattle-based online real estate portal Zillow – not sure I’ve seen its advertisements on a national sports broadcast before.

There’s no question it was a terrible call and the Bills do have a tendency to give up big plays in 3 or 4th and long situations, but the odds were definitely in Buffalo’s favor. At the time I meant good games from good teams rather than barnstormers from mediocre teams – which was what Wembley was treated to on Sunday – but beggars can’t be choosers.

Ryan Tannehill was 12 of 12 for 231 yards and four touchdowns in the first half, and Miller had 175 yards on 14 carries.

Derek Carr threw three touchdown passes, including a 52-yarder to Amari Cooper, and Oakland turned two interceptions of Philip Rivers into 10 points on their way to an easy victory in what could be the last game of the AFC West rivalry played in San Diego. “I thought he did”, Ryan said.

Teddy Bridgewater threw for a season-high 316 yards and two touchdowns for Minnesota.

The Bills got one back before half-time as Manuel finally put a drive together and capped it with a 16-yard pass to Eric Wood in the corner of the end zone, and a field goal cut the deficit to 27-13 at half-time. It’s safe to predict that House will be back as a starter next week.

Matt Ryan didn’t have a sharp game on the winning side, but at least the Falcons are one team that knows how to get the playmakers involved.
