The video later shows the actual shooting and the driver’s falling to the ground about 3:30 p.m. ET, police said.

Altamonte Springs police described the shooter as a black man wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt with an orange or purple hat, possibly a Phoenix Suns cap.

Police crime tape blocked the entrance to the supermarket for several hours, and more than a dozen police officers and deputies were outside the store. That vehicle was later found behind at the Royal Arms condominium complex not far from the Publix.

“We have very good images of you”, Pelton said, addressing the gunman and his getaway driver.

A woman who was on a scale next to the gunman before the shooting spoke to News 6 about the incident.

“I got in a little bit further into the store, (and) that’s when I heard the gunshots behind me”, she said. The worker was struck in the head but police said he was alert when he was taken to a hospital.

They have not released the amount of cash that was stolen.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the individual that was injured and his family”.

“Publix at this time of day is full of children, it’s full of parents, it’s full of everybody just coming home from work and doing the right thing and the kids are in there, they’re getting dinner and then this happens”, said Susan Buccellato, who was shopping at Publix.
