Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was not affected by the road mishap involving his convoy when the vehicle in which he was traveling had a burst tyre.
“The memorial service, held at the Chapel of Christ the Glorious King of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, drew attendance across the length and breath of the country, particularly from the Abebe family, where the late wife hailed from in Delta state”.
Although it was not confirmed whether Obasanjo was injured or not, it was however confirmed that he was said to have headed straight to Adebutu’s 80th birthday church service before jetting out of the country.
The former president, according to the statement continued his journey to Cote D’Ivoire where he is part of the team monitoring elections there.
Speaking on behalf of the Abebe family, Mr. John Abebe recalled fond memories of the late Stella, saying he missed her too.
He urged her family members to continue to keep her legacy alive.
Stella Obasanjo died a few weeks before her 60th birthday from complications after cosmetic surgery at a private health clinic in Spain, on October 23, 2005.
Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state; Funso Kupolokun, former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC); Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun state and Ben Murray Bruce, a serving senator, were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
