No apology for citing Ben Carson’s faith

A Friday Des Moines Regisiter/Bloomberg poll shows him with a nine-point lead in Iowa. According to media reports, Carson’s surge in Iowa polls might derail Trump’s 2016 presidential ambitions, as it will force him to re-work his strategy to the electorate.

For me, then, the interesting question isn’t how much Trump knows about Seventh-day Adventists.

“No, not at all”.

“I like Ben, but he can not do with trade like I do”, Trump said. “But, no, not at all. I just don’t know about”. None of the other candidates is viewed as electable in a general election by more than half of Republican voters.

According to the poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who recently made cuts to his campaign staff, has struggled with negative opinions within the GOP: 48 percent of Republican voters have a positive opinion, while 37 percent have a negative opinion. “It was playing off fears of a lot of Americans”, Sanders said during an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union”. “And I have done really well with the evangelicals and with the Tea Party and everything”.

“You know, fortunately, you know, my life has been been changed”, he added. I accept the number. “And frankly, even to be tied, I’m a little surprised”.

“I think I might, but I’d have to look at the situation”, Trump said. “As I’ve said many times there have been many times when I’ve operated for 12, 15, 18, 20 hours and that requires a lot of energy”, Carson told reporters at a book signing in Ames when asked whether he needs to increase his energy level.

“I really got beyond the mudslinging, the mud pit and fighting and calling each other names”, Carson said at a town hall at a fraternity house Saturday morning in Iowa. Boy, that’s down the middle of the road, folks, in all fairness.

Now, I know this is anecdotal, but check out this New York Times story by Trip Gabriel about why Iowans like the retired pediatric neurosurgeon. “Probably equal. I think it’s just incredible”, he responded. But Trump believes he can draw Carson into a fight. “I do have a tendency to be relaxed”, Carson said in an interview aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press”. “I think it’s the relationship with God that’s most important”. And I am who I am. “I wasn’t always like that”, Carson continued. The first sentence of his rant was “I love Iowa”. And if they don’t want me, that’s fine, too. Because I would never lie just to get an office.

“I wrote about societies, before tyranny was able to take root, that the tyrants tried to rid the people of the mechanism to defend themselves”.

Dr. Carson, who has gotten high marks for likability from grass-roots Republican activists, continues to struggle to explain his policy positions.

As these things go, however, a candidate’s support does not go all to one opponent.

Many are not caucus or primary voters, so they simply disappear altogether. Sen.

“Carson is kind of an unassailable candidate”, said Steve Deace, a conservative radio host who is supporting Cruz, the Texas senator.

Trump, whose appeal as a political outsider has helped his candidacy flourish, said that if elected, he’d be a “great unifier for our country”. You could either do health savings accounts or you could have the traditional Medicare?
