Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Saturday that Luke Walton would begin the season as interim head coach.

He’s expected to attend Tuesday night’s pregame ceremony, in which Warriors players and coaches will receive their championship rings.
Kerr is battling continued symptoms, including severe headaches, caused by a spinal fluid leak stemming from back surgery in July.
During Steve Kerr’s debut as coach, the Warriors went 6-2 in exhibition play with a league-best plus-11.0 point differential. “So I see Steve helping me a lot in that aspect”. “We”ll find out Tuesday what it”s really like, and I”m looking forward to that.”.
According to Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area, the Dubs’ assistant coach will be the head man when Golden State opens its regular season slate against the New Orleans Pelicans October 27, and perhaps beyond that. He said the Warriors will be conservative and try to make sure that once he’s back, he doesn’t have to leave again.
“It dampens the whole atmosphere that he’s not going to be there, ” Gentry said.
“Steve will stay engaged… and he’ll still be talking to Luke frequently, as much as he’d like”, Myers said.
The former Chicago Bull, who steered the Warriors to the National Basketball Association championship against the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, won’t be around for the season opener as he continues his recovery after undergoing back surgery.
“Don’t come back until you’re ready, because if you do rush back, that’s not going to help anybody.”
“In the long run, you”re going to have to take more time off, and it puts more mental stress on you.”.

“You get used to it, just because you’ve worn it”, he said. All indications in recent days had pointed to such, but Myers said he wanted deliver “official” clarification. He presided over a 3-3 record in the preseason, which was more a study in roster experimentation than a desire to win games.
