Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman broke Kendall Wright’s all-time school record for touchdown catches Saturday.

The good news for Baylor fans is this – whoever has taken snaps at the quarterback position has excelled and been able to score a ton of points.

“We know we have the best offense, so the more times they have the ball, the more chances they get to put up points”, Blanchard said. The Bears (7-0, 4-0, Big 12) had 485 total yards, leaving them well below their national-leading averages of 64 points and 720 total yards a game. But Briles noted that Baylor’s numbers have been accumulated during a stretch when the Bears’ up-tempo offense has been held to fewer than 80 snaps in games against SMU (69), Rice (78) and Texas Tech (76). Quarterbacks Joel Lanning and Sam Richardson combined to complete 15 of 29 passes for 156 yards with three touchdowns. He has thrown for 319 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

“When you’re down 35-nothing or whatever it was, you don’t really think about it”, Lanning said.

But the Baylor defense – playing without defensive anchor Andrew Billings – was just as hot out of the gates, as Iowa State had as many turnovers as first downs (3) with 8:14 remaining in the first half.

At this juncture, scoring records do not register with Baylor Coach Art Briles.

Russell wasn’t always spot-on delivering the wet football, but he still passed for 197 yards and two touchdowns.

Iowa State running back Mike Warren finished with 145 yards on 28 carries. Joshua Thomas, another freshman, ran 13 times for 77 yards and a score. “We’ll kind of regroup and restructure and figure out a plan for Kansas State and then go from there”. Despite scoring with relative ease early in the game, the Bears suffered their worst scoring drought of the season against the Cyclones. Stidham has played in all seven games for the Bears this season, he has thrown 24 completions for 331 yards and six touchdowns.
