Ian Clark claims final Warriors roster spot

We can only hope it comes close to matching the basketball magic of a year ago.

When the Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans play in the season opener Tuesday, two of the NBA’s brightest stars in Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis will go head-to-head. “We still have to remember that he’s 22 years old”.

“Hopefully we learn how to quickly get our engines back going”, Curry said. “So we’ll actually see if guys want to run now”. We’re going to have fun. “They didn’t have to play us or the Spurs”.

“It kind of reminds me how we played at Kentucky”, Davis added, referring to his one season with the Wildcats, which ended with a national title.

This is the first time a non-player has received this designation, but considering zero real games have yet to be played, there’s only so much to work with. But the Pistons are relatively talented, we love what they do with Andre Drummond and four shooters around him, and if the Hawks win I just don’t see this being a blowout. Tyreke Evans took a bigger role with the ball handling duties last season but sadly, has been ruled out for the next 6-8 weeks as he recovers from knee surgery.

RESTING HOLIDAY: It’s unclear when Holiday’s minute restrictions will be loosened, or exactly what role he’ll play in the rotation when he is healthy enough to play more than 30 minutes a night. But when the season starts, he’s expected to back up Evans at the point. “They don’t have the luxury of being a sixth seed”, he said.

“It’ll be tough to be in the moment and obviously enjoy seeing the ring for the first time and the banner and the crowd going insane and just the whole ceremony”, Curry said. Green said celebrating wasn’t the focus for anyone on the team.

Walton has had a busy summer as he was the head coach for the Warriors summer league team, then was promoted to lead assistant taking over for the departed Alvin Gentry on July 29, and now leads the defending champions in their first game.

Moments later, the Warriors will have to set aside a few of their emotions and tip off the regular season with a game against the up-and-coming New Orleans Pelicans.

Curry, who was 2 for 11 from 3-point range in the loss to Memphis, hopes the situation doesn’t repeat.
