PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, enjoined the people of the three Northeast states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe affected by the Boko Haram insurgency to remain steadfast and have faith in the federal government’s resolve to defeat Boko Haram even as the insurgents intensified their bombings. I want to congratulate all of you for being part of this operation because Nigerians are watching and waiting for you to finish up these criminals called Boko Haram.
He added that his vision was to reposition the army and make it more professional and more responsive to its responsibilities.
“We still reiterate our call for citizens to remain confident in the ability of our troops to eliminate all remaining vestiges of the terrorists before the year runs out in line with Presidential directives”. Buratai charged the soldiers to apply tactics, battle procedure and fire discipline.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the task force was strategically established to end insurgency.
The Street Journal recalls that the insurgents recently attacked Muslim worshipers by detonating improvised explosive devices at mosques in Maiduguri and Yola, where many were killed and others injured.
He said the insurgents would soon be history but Nigerians needed to be alert to the new threat of the terrorist group.
He said recent happenings have shown that “just like wounded lions, the insurgents are deadlier and more risky than in the past”, but “this is a battle that our gallant police officers are ready for and definitely are winning”.
However, the AIG warned that he has zero tolerance for act that would disrupt peace and order in any of the states under his control.

But the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, disagrees, saying the military has routed the insurgents from every inch of the country’s land. “I will not condone any form of dereliction of duties from any officer under my control”.
