The JJ Abrams-directed movie is set to hit cinema screens in December and its pre-sales have already surpassed every IMAX record ever, taking $6.5 million.

Director J.J. Abrams has been careful about what he has revealed about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but fans, with the Star Wars fever, are hungry for anything that Abrams has ready for them to see related to the flick.
Demand was so overwhelming on Monday evening, when the tickets went on sale, that several online ticketing services crashed.
THR reports a few film industry analysts expect Star Wars: The Force Awakens to net $300 million in the USA with another $300 million internationally. It was viewed on YouTube more than 220,000 times within the first 20 minutes.
The hashtag appeared Sunday night after it was announced that the trailer would be released the day after, and objected that none of the main protagonists – Ridley, Boyega and Isaac – were white males. I won’t repeat rumors here, but suffice it to say I’m hoping a few of them turn out to be true.
Teasers and trailers have become events in and of themselves for “The Force Awakens”, one of the most anticipated movies of the year.
“For “Star Wars”, we have already sold eight times as many tickets as we did on the first day of sales for the previous record holder”, the company’s representative said.
One scalper is offering VIP tickets to the premiere in Wilmington, Delaware, on eBay for $10,000, while four tickets to the IMAX premiere in Danvers, Massachusetts, are now on sale for $9,750.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the very first Star Wars movie was introduced to the world on May 25, 1977. Tickets for the movie are available now at theaters nationwide, and I understand they’ve been selling at ridiculous rates. Many “Star Wars” fans who aren’t necessarily inclined to watch football tuned in to the game to wait for the trailer.
