First Look Promo For Gotham Season 2, Episode 7; “Mommy’s Little Monster”
“She definitely goes into a dark space, because at the end of the episode she… feels like she doesn’t have anybody to turn to”. When Captain Barnes reprimands Gordon for physically assaulting a suspect, Gordon replies by spouting rhetoric about how “war” makes every action okay, and how there’s no sense of honor or duty because “this is Gotham”. Michael Chiklis’ character has seen reduced screentime the last couple of episodes, but his White Knight message of law and order has brought out a little bit of the Gotham in Jim Gordon who was squeaky clean previous year (well, at least in his own mind). She’s still hiding out with Selina, who rescued her from police custody in last week’s episode.

The tragedy of Bridgit Pike. Selina leads Bridgit and her fireproof suit/flamethrower combo to a local meat market where the people inside are auctioning off human flesh in a few kind of underground sex trafficking ring. “But I dont think she’ll go in a necessarily “evil” direction”, Gotham’s Camren Bicondova said. It may seem like Selina is taking the wrong path to Gotham fans, but Bicondova says that things may not be as bad as they seem at first. She reveals that it was Bridget’s brothers that took her and made her do everything. She loads up her suit and weapon and burns her brothers to a crisp. Her parting gift to Gordon is to tell him that Penguin hired the Pikes which makes him question the reason why the King of Gotham would do such a thing. According to TV Line, the episode would see Kyle as she helped Bridgit Pike, also known as Firefly, deal with the latter’s errands as a GCDP officer. Jim tries to talk her down, but Bridgit already has it in her mind that the cops are there to punish her just like her brothers used to do, so she opens up both barrels and unleashes a flame as bright as the north star.
At the end of the episode we see that Bridgit ends up at Indian Hill – Selina was obviously devastated at the thought of Bridgit being dead, but how do you think she’d feel to find out she’s still alive, but in such a changed state? For one, there’s the “who’s got the bolder grip on Butch?” conflict between Theo Galavan and Penguin. Closing out the night is the futuristic crime drama, Minority Report.
Butch explains that he’s loyal thanks to mental conditioning so whatever Penguin says, he must do.
While last week’s episode saw Penguin (Robin Taylor Lord) and Theo Galavan (James Frain) worked together, tonight’s episode will see two of the most notorious villains in Gotham continue to fight over power after Galavan kidnapped Penguin’s mother last week.
Meanwhile, Galavan continues to push for his new job as mayor after threatening a congressman for his endorsement and now his next mission is to get Bruce Wayne on board.
Bruce is spending most of his free time in boxing class with Alfred while waiting on Lucius Fox to fix the computer that once belonged to his dearly departed father. He, Tabitha, Silver St. Cloud, and Bruce have a creepy “family” dinner that Bruce doesn’t seem to notice is creepy at all – even though Tabitha shows up with Butch’s blood on her face. Theo wants to talk about an executive at Wayne Enterprises that went missing. Bruce opens up to Galavan, without knowing that the older man has a huge vendetta against his family. She only has to trust herself and her way usually gets her out of trouble. She freaks out when she learns that he murdered her ex-boyfriend. She killed someone, the cops are looking for her, and she has no money. Edward even kept his badge as a souvenir. She starts shooting again and catches fire. He’s now killed two people, one on objective and one completely on accident, the woman he loves.
Jim returns home to find Selina pointing a shotgun at Leslie asking for answers on what happened to her friend Bridgit. Perhaps it is because their bond goes deeper than shown, however, the writing does not really add up.

The biggest problem plaguing “By Fire”, and really Gotham as a whole, is that it wants to explore the story of Gordon’s potentially compromised morality with as much gravitas as possible while also insisting that the more comic and cartoonish tendencies are fine because hey, this is just a comic book show, right?
