Cardiff 0 Bristol City 0: Sammy Ameobi misses late sitter in stalemate
A late horror miss from Cardiff City forward Sammy Ameobi meant Monday’s Championship Severnside derby with Bristol City finished goalless in the Welsh capital.

Ameobi sidefooted over the bar a minute after David Marshall saved from Joe Bryan and, from the rebound City’s Elliott Bennett crashed over a half-volley. “Bristol City are a big team, they’ve not been doing so well at the moment, but it’s a derby match, so form goes out the window”.
Sadly, Kodjia was ruled offside when he followed up Joe Bryan’s shot to score at the far post.
“We were below par in the first half, we didn’t have a creative edge”, Slade said. “I’m happy that we have kept a clean sheet but we need to create more opportunities in the final third”.
“We have to back this point up with a win like we did when we drew with Preston and beat Middlesbrough”.
“If we had won this game then we would have been two points off second place, you have to be positive about what we’re doing”.
Cotterill said: “Had that last chance gone in it would have been a catastrophe”.
The Robins themselves are playing a few good football, with their defeat to Brighton last time out bringing an end to a run of three games without defeat.

As usual Sammy Ameobi was left out of Cardiff City’s starting eleven but for the tenth time this season, he came on as a substitute.
