Villa face boss target headache
Pearson is among a number of candidates to have been linked to the vacant Villa Park hotseat, though it is understood the former Leicester boss has not been contacted by the club, with Frenchman Remi Garde still the odds-on favourite to replace Tim Sherwood.

Manager Tim Sherwood was sacked by Aston Villa following a stretch of six consecutive Premier League defeats.
“People are going to say I’m insane for putting my name in the hat but I’ve been involved in football for a very long time and, having played for Aston Villa for 10 years, I’ve looked at the club and seen the direction they’re heading in – it’s a dire situation”, he told talkSPORT. Who do you want as your next manager? He managed to hold on to their Premier League existence by an ants thong and somehow made it to the FA Cup Final where they lost to Arsenal.
Five more vacancies will appear by the end of the year, Tim.
There was a lot of money spent in the summer and while he might contest that they aren’t the sort of players he wanted to sign, I see plenty of experience in that squad and a few signings who have a bit of quality in there too.
“Aston Villa are supposed to be the biggest club in the Midlands, but they’re nowhere near”.
“I’d like to thank my coaching staff and the staff throughout the club for their dedication, the Villa fans for their passionate support and the players who gave everything during my time at the club”, added Sherwood.
“Looking at Villa at the moment, I’m not so sure a lot of the lads know what’s hit them”.

Pearson, a free agent after departing the King Power Stadium in the summer, won plenty of plaudits after masterminding the Foxes’ Great Escape from the same position last season and Atkinson believes he should be given serious consideration.
