ABOUT THE PISTONS (2014-15: 32-50): Van Gundy was given control over personnel when he took the job and has spent the past year remaking the roster.

While assessing where the Atlanta Hawks stand going into the regular season, two of their offseason additions continued to struggle as the preseason came to an end: Tim Hardaway, Jr. and Justin Holiday.

Of the five new Atlanta acquisitions, Splitter figures to be the biggest difference maker.

Bazemore, a 6-foot-5 swingman, started throughout the preseason at the small forward spot that belonged to DeMarre Carroll the last two years.

For the Pistons, their roster for the upcoming season is rife with many new faces. Joining Morris and Ilyasova as newly obtained Pistons are reserve players Steve Blake, Aron Baynes and rookie Stanley Johnson.

This Pistons group has obviously not experienced much on-court time together.

The team already has work underway on $2.5 million in significant, but unrelated, upgrades to player areas such as training rooms and lounges. Sefolosha appeared in four exhibition games, also sitting out the finale.

The Pistons will be led into battle by young stars Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson.

Patterson, who received a bachelor’s in administration of justice from Pitt, averaged 17.1 points, 4.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game in his final season with the Panthers.

For those who enjoy a little wager, the odds for this game as reported by sportsbookreview.com have Atlanta as the -6 and a half point favorite.

Both teams come into the contest relatively healthy.

Tuesday night’s game will tip off at 8 p.m. The Atlanta Hawks begin their most anticipated season ever on Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena. In an interview with German magazine Bild (h/t Sportando for the translation), he expressed his clear desire to start over Jeff Teague, who became an All-Star last season.
