To make matters worse Justin Schultz left the game with an undisclosed injury and although a few were were stating illness I haven’t seen anything to confirm it. That left the Oilers with 5 defensemen to look after the LA Kings.

The save by Quick to prevent the game going into overtime was hard to completely determine if it was a legitimate save or not as his glove crossed the goal line, but since the puck was not visible replay officials were unable to verify if the puck crossed the line.

Said McDavid: “He made a good save”.

The Kings continue their two-game road trip visiting the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.

The Oilers rank tied for 22nd in the league, allowing 3.00 goals against so far this season, while the Kings sit eighth with an average of 2.14 goals against per game.

Connor McDavid the prodigy for the Edmonton Oiler thought his shot might have gone in the net.

The Los Angeles Kings made it five consecutive wins after a tense 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. “Obviously it’s tough to see with his glove covering it up”. They scored one power-play goal in their first five games.

“Not the best feeling”, he said. “Just a desperation world-class save by a world-class goaltender”. They got one, but the character of this team came up again and we got one right back on them. The Kings got caught flat-footed early by a burst of McDavid speed, but then they calmed down, played their system well, took the lead in the second period and seemed comfortable for long stretches of the game.

– The Kings went 1 for 2 on the power play (with nine shots on goal) and 1 for 2 on the penalty kill.

Predictably, the Oilers pushed back in the third period and got a late power-play goal, but Tanner Pearson, newly promoted to the Kopitar line, showed great vision and hands when he scored the late game-winning power-play goal.

There’s still much to be sorted out on the Oilers’ blue-line, but it’s clear that the team is on the upswing, and Talbot is slowly proving to be a worthwhile gamble. He’s a good player.
