Mizzou QB Maty Mauk reinstated after suspension

A team spokesman would not confirm Mauk’s reinstatement but indicated that coach Gary Pinkel will address it Wednesday during the weekly SEC Football Coaches Teleconference. Since the Tigers have struggled with Lock as well, failing to score an offensive touchdown in its last three games, Pinkel may decide to put Mauk, with his 17-5 record as a starter, back on the field. The news was first reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and PowerMizzou.com.

With Lock at quarterback the last four weeks, the Tigers (4-4, 1-4 Southeastern Conference) beat South Carolina 24-10 but have scored just 12 points in consecutive losses to Florida, Georgia and Vanderbilt. It’s the team’s first three-game losing streak since 2009.

During the suspension, the junior quarterback has been away from the team.

When asked about Mauk’s suspension during the last month, Pinkel has declined to discuss any specifics and wouldn’t even say whether he’d been in contact with Mauk. This includes all team activites, however, it is unclear if Mauk will play in the school’s upcoming game against Mississippi State.

“I don’t know that that’s a priority or concern of mine”, Mike Mauk said.

Mike Mauk would not provide details regarding why his son was suspended.
