Naomie Harris wants to stick around and play Moneypenny in the next James Bond film.

“He is the ultimate Bond – the best so far – and brings a complexity, a strength, yet sensitivity and a modern brilliance to the role”.

“I’m waiting for the world premiere to see it with my family”, she added of Spectre, before revealing that she didn’t shoot in any exotic locations this time around: “I went nowhere, nowhere at all”. “It’s quite demeaning to call her a girl”.

Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux have joined the cast of Spectre as the latest Bond girls to catch 007’s (Daniel Craig) eye and potentially capture his heart.

“She (Swann) is supposed to have the traditional role of being rescued, but actually she rejects his help and is like “I’ve got this, I’ll do this on my own”, Harris said.

The £4,500 machine, which Naomie has installed at her North London home, features a web of weighted pulleys – and looks like a torture device dreamed up by a Bond villain. “I think he’s a very guarded man, I get the feeling he’s a pretty solitary human being”. “She’s quite capable and independent”.

The Bond universe is filled with solitary human beings, with Daniel Craig famously describing Bond as a “lonely misogynist” earlier this year, though both Harris and Whishaw think Craig/Mendes have negotiated the character away from this somewhat.

Harris said another female Bond character, Dr Madeleine Swann, is not your typical “Bond girl” either.

Previous Bond actors Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan have been criticized over their dismissal of Elba as a potential replacement to play the spy.

But Harris, who was the first black actress to play Moneypenny, says discussing Bond’s skin color is “missing the point”.
