On March 10 the daily non-stop service to Pittsburgh will be replaced by Southwest Airlines which is now being offered by American Airlines until December 2015. The schedule previously was only open for flights through April 11.

The addition of the flights is a double-edge sword, with Southwest saying it will end service to Chicago Midway once the flights to St. Louis begin.

“Southwest has continued to show its commitment to St. Louis with this announcement of new flights which really expands our connectivity across the USA”, Lambert’s director, Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, said in a statement.

Lambert will be the 12th busiest airport in the Southwest system.
