Blackhawks beat Ducks in OT
They have one power play goal. And they still can’t score. Per Elias, since overtime was reintroduced in the National Hockey League in the 1983-84 season, the Blackhawks are the first team to post consecutive overtime shutout victories.

Speaking of goalies, Corey Crawford deserves major praise.
His stint as the Blackhawks coach in 05-06 was with a roster featuring leading scorers Kyle Calder, Mark Bell, and Tyler Arnasson, but also saw promising rookies Duncan Keith (who lead the team with 23:26 average ice time per game) and Brent Seabrook (who averaged 20:02) make their debuts.
“So far”, Toews said with a smile.
When the National Hockey League came up with this overtime reform in June, it was hard to envision how the product would look.
When the Ducks’ Ryan Getzlaf lost possession in his own offensive zone, Toews gave a burst of speed to attain the puck.
Consider this another perk of 3-on-3: it adds even more value to superstar players, and facilitates them doing superstar things. An opportunity to win in regulation had passed by.
Crawford denied Ryan Getzlaf before Toews got a pass from Patrick Kane and beat Frederik Andersen over his left shoulder, making Chicago a flawless 3 for 3 in overtime this season.
– Chris Wagner was recalled from San Diego (AHL) and was inserted into the lineup, taking the place of Chris Stewart.
After a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, it seems Bruce Boudreau’s situation in Anaheim has become serious enough that possible replacements are already being discussed.
“It was a sigh of relief obviously”. If he thought it was Freddie’s fault then he would have awarded the goal. “But he said it wasn’t Freddie’s fault that the net came off that easy”. This could help explain why they’re in the bottom half for shots for and against.
One of them, and arguably the most important stat so far in this young season, is the penalty kill. “So we’ve been getting the bounces, getting the luck there so hopefully that keeps going for us if it goes down to 3-on-3”. It was fine the whole game but I guess I was too strong there.
To get this season turned around they are going to have to do the little things well.
“You knew that right away because I felt it. I had no momentum coming”.
The Ducks ultimately finished the game with a 39-24 shot advantage, which should tell you something about the performance Corey Crawford had in goal. “For me, it’s clean up your game and we can stay consistent”. All four lines had at least a couple of chances. This is something that we had not see from the Ducks since last postseason and it was the reason they made such a deep playoff run. We were good tonight.
“We played for 60 minutes”.

“It was just mistakes by us”, Benn said. They got 19 scoring chances, just one fewer than the Blackhawks, in a game that had an intensity to it that is rare in late October.
