“We can establish and enforce these systems ourselves, or we can put our industry in the hands of outside entities who do not understand the industry as we do — outside entities who are not as able nor as committed to establishing rules and regulations that ensure integrity and transparency while allowing the industry to continue to thrive”, Charchian wrote.

Before Nevada’s ruling, daily fantasy sports was banned in five states due to regulations against cash awards.

The DFS industry is now the subject of multiple state and federal law enforcement investigations into the legality of DFS following DraftKings’ data leak controversy earlier this month. “But the way Nevada law is now written, they didn’t fit”.

The Wall Street Journal reported the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice are looking into whether or not daily fantasy sports violates federal gambling laws.

The controversial daily fantasy sports sites have attracted millions of users, generating staggering revenues.

FanDuel said it was “pleased” with the announcement. There have been more than 20 similar lawsuits filed against the companies in October.

Farrell called 2015 “a make or break year” for DraftKings and FanDuel. Beyond that, Atkins says he’s anxious about the less prominent sites that may be flying under the radar.
