You can understand how those in cities might find themselves suddenly cornered by a horde after taking a wrong turn down an alley, a la Glenn and Nicholas in Sunday’s episode, but this show is set in the countryside. Because of the controversial fate of one of the series’ main characters, more viewers tuned into the subsequent discussion than for any previous Talking Dead that wasn’t following a premiere or finale, with a total of 6.2 million viewers. Granted, confirmation of Negan’s introduction doesn’t guarantee that Glenn will fulfill the same role as we’ve come to expect, though cast and crew have frequently addressed their interest in arriving at the famed sequence. “Ultimately, [the dumpster scene] is all part of a bigger story”. I love Glenn, so I want to be happy about this, but that’s so stupid. They’re kind of stopping in the middle of the movie, which they have to because there’s a week between the reels. Speaking to TV Line, Gimple only revealed that fans would have their Glenn questions answered before the end of the first half of Season 6, which only narrows the time frame down to five episodes.

I can’t believe anyone has managed to get through the last 36 hours without getting spoiled on The Walking Dead, but if you’ve pulled off the impossible, spoilers for the latest episode, “Thank You”, follow!

Viewers were crestfallen that they’d lost a fan favorite on the series, but they also understood: This is the nature of The Walking Dead, where anyone can die, even the most popular characters.
