Rand Paul holds rally at Denver college campus on eve of Republican
Two other candidates have Texas chairs: Donald Trump has chosen GOP consultant Corbin Casteel and Carly Fiorina has named former Comptroller Susan Combs as co-chair.

The deal, announced Tuesday by outgoing House Speaker John Boehner, faces opposition from conservatives who argue that the compromise will raise the nations borrowing power without significant changes to entitlement programs or addressing the nation’s growing debt. But Paul’s ambition for this bill is to deny unanimous consent on passage of the House bill, forcing the Senate to work through the weekend, ahead of the November 5 debt limit expiration deadline stated by the Treasury.
“I think raising the debt ceiling with no limit is absurd, wrong, a recipe for unlimited spending”, Paul told The Hill following a campaign rally in Denver, a day before the third GOP presidential debate Wednesday night.
Rubio criticized the “political establishment” for a lack of transparency in reaching a deal he said would “irresponsibly” raise the debt ceiling without substantive reforms.
Asked whether he thought his planned filibuster would be similar to those, Paul said, “We don’t know yet”. “We should be using the leverage of the debt ceiling to actually enforce spending restraint”.
It’s unclear if the Florida senator, whose low Senate attendance has been a subject of scrutiny, will return to Washington for the vote.
Nevertheless, the move to make Huffines the campaign’s official state chairman adds another formal Texas connection to the team of Paul, the son of longtime Lake Jackson congressman Ron Paul and a Baylor University graduate.

In May of this year Paul commandeered the Senate floor for about 11 hours in a pseudo-filibuster he used to protest the Patriot Act. Whether another “Stand with Rand” moment will help boost his campaign remains to be seen.
