“Traditional” offline Dragon Quest XI for home consoles

Word out of Japan Expo in Paris this weekend is that Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii is running around telling folks that Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII localizations are in the works.

Gematsu reports multiple sources that were covering the show tweeted that Horri revealed at the show that Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII would both be released “in French”.

If the game is going to be released “in French”, there is nearly no doubt that it would also come out in other Western territories, including the United States.

We’ve reached out to Square Enix for comment and will provide updates as they become available.

Horii mentioned that Dragon Quest XI is in development for consoles, but wasn’t specific about which ones. All those who pre-order the Japanese version of the game will receive the Ancient Sword of Loto, a weapon that those who have played the first three entries of the series surely know.

It appears that perhaps those announcements aren’t just limited to Japan, where the Dragon Quest series is undoubtedly the most popular.
