Viewers watched each category perform for their mentor in pre-recorded segments filmed at locations all around the world.
Judges Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora will choose their final three when live Judges’ Houses concludes tonight (Sunday).
He was previously booted off the show after an on-stage spat with Simon Cowell, but was brought back after another singer dropped out from Judges’ House. His final three are Ché Chesterman, Seann Miley Moore and comeback kid, Mason Noise.
And they are Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray and Kiera Weathers.
ITV’s talent show attracted an average overnight audience of 6.12m (25.5%) at 7.30pm (353,000/1.6% on +1), its second-lowest rated episode of the series so far.
A few fans were not impressed with the running time and posted selfies with family members who had “fallen asleep” in front of the TV.
“We’ve got a few different projects going on at the moment, one of which is we’re trying to put a girl band together”, he said on X Factor’s Xtra Preview.
So it’s official; Simon Cowell is London’s favourite X-Factor judge.
However, the 37-year-old was ecstatic: “I feel absolutely fantastic!” she cried.
At 6:15pm, mammoth Sunday institution Countryfile (BBC One) charmed a little under 7 million viewers with scenes of rolling rural hills and picturesque fishing villages, resulting in a 34% share.
However, the 56-year-old judge was less keen on the live element of the judges’ houses round, admitting it was “hell”.
Another criticised the updated format, blasting: “This new process on X Factor is just long winded and annoying #XFactor ITV have officially lost all chill”.

However, the two shows are set to coincide over the coming weeks.
