Warriors forward Barnes to become restricted free agent
The Golden State Warriors have been forced to cancel contract negotiations with forward Harrison Barnes.

Harrison Barnes and the Warriors will not come to terms on a contract extension before the league’s October 31 deadline. And generally seems very comfortable with waiting until July.
The lack of resolution with Barnes’ contract will likely only increase speculation that the Warriors are eying a big-name free agent in 2016, most notably Kevin Durant. “I think he just wants to focus on the games as they stand now”. While the team re-signed forward Draymond Green to a five-year, $85 million deal this summer, the team hasn’t even discussed an extension with center Festus Ezeli, per Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.
Myers declined to say how far apart the two sides are but said, “We had a lot of good dialogue, and we end the discussion on very good terms, very amicable”.
That could ultimately prove costly for the Warriors, as Barnes could sign an offer sheet the Warriors wouldn’t be inclined to match.
Barnes, 23, averaged 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season with the Warriors, establishing himself as a vital member of the team’s championship-winning squad.
Myers previously spoke optimistically about reaching an agreement with Barnes before the season started.

Myers said that he chose to table negotiations because of the season beginning, though he also forewent the time in a way that signals the possibility of Barnes not accepting anything less than the reported four-year, $64 million deal which he is said to have turned down this offseason. And now, representing the organization, we’re going to make the decision the best decision for us.
