The German carmaker has released just a single teaser image (above) at this stage, but the outline strongly suggests a minivan or people-mover theme.
All we get from the Stuttgart carmaker at this point is that the study is aptly named “The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo” and that it’s “Autonomous, luxurious and progressive”.
The unique shape hints at a practical multi-purpose vehicle and it follows in a long line of Mercedes Vision concept cars that have revealed technological advances that went on to feature in future Mercedes production models. So what we can tell is that this van will definitely be able to drive itself, perhaps that’s why it looks quite similar to the F 015 Luxury in Motion concept. The F 015 previewed Mercedes take on the future of autonomous driving with a mobile living space.

With its slightly more conventional shape, it’s possible the Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo could be something a little nearer to present-day reality than we saw with the F 015. It’s powered by the brand’s F-Cell Plug-In Hybrid system which can be fuelled by electric or hydrogen.
