Jets lose 4-1 to Kings

Trevor Lewis piled on seconds later with a second empty-net goal for Los Angeles as he crossed the blue line from the right hand side of the Jets zone, firing on the empty net. Quick, as he was throughout the game, was calm and stout, and he finished off the job with 24 saves.

Myers called it bad luck. Drew Stafford said. “There was not a lot going on”. Chances were pretty low for the most part.

“It was a hard fought game obviously”.

Kansas City Royals took a 1-0 lead over New York Mets in MLB’s World Series after a mammoth 14-inning encounter ended in a 5-4 win.

“You’re going to see more and more hockey like this”. “You have to make adjustments to your game and we struggled with that a little bit here tonight”. I thought we were moving the puck better.

The goat on that play was Blake Wheeler who left the face off going forward without seeing where the puck was.

It was a scoreless opening period as the Jets out shot the Kings 9-8.

What was clear from the eye-test perspective was that the King started to pull away about mid-way through the second period. It was Toffoli’s team-high seventh goal this season.

“I threw it on the net”.

Tight, entertaining game seemed headed to OT until Lucic-Toffoli 2-on-1 with 5 minutes left. “And just tried to put it in there and it went in”.

But the Kings battled back to tie it up before the end of the period.

Los Angeles defenseman Jake Muzzin’s blast from the point beat a screened Ondrej Pavelec with 4:10 remaining in the middle frame. The shots were 11 aside in the second stanza.

The play started on an odd-man rush and finished when it looked like Toffoli’s pass glanced off the stick of Jets defenseman Tyler Myers and then off Lucic.

“They owned the third”.

Diversify the Offence: Remember how I mentioned the Kings” “TLC’ line and how they’ve been rather good? “I think the main thing is, we’re having fun and we just have to keep working hard and having fun, and try to continue our success”.

The Jets made one roster change on Tuesday as rookie Nic Petan rode the pine, replaced in the lineup by Anthony Peluso. D Adam Pardy and D Paul Postma were healthy scratches….

There are positives for the Jets as they can learn about how to manage the game but that can be tough when playing a team like the Kings, they are big and fast and play a tough style that makes the opposition work for space on the ice. One game left on the home stand and thats against Chicago Thursday, it just doesn’t get any easier in the Central Division.
