Man United flop handed Chelsea escape route by former Tottenham boss

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has offered Radamel Falcao an escape route out of Stamford Bridge, according to reports. The striker has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, where he was signed as understudy to Diego Costa, and after a miserable loan season at Manchester United.

Villas-Boas ended up playing a significant part in Chelsea history, being a catalyst for the club’s first Champions League trophy with his sacking at mid-season; meanwhile, Hulk and Falcao were heavily linked with Chelsea throughout the years until we landed the latter in the last transfer window.

Despite the fact that the reigning champions boast the best scoring record in the league with 29 goals, Villas Boas would like to become the next manager to try and resurrect Falcao’s career with the Telegraph noting that he has an excellent understanding with Hulk.

Falcao’s current loan deal at Chelsea would have to be cancelled and he would then be able to secure a switch elsewhere. The two scored 78 goals between them at FC Porto. The Colombian has struggled to recapture the form he had for Atletico Madrid and Porto after suffering a cruciate knee ligament tear-which ruled him out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It is understood that Mourinho’s decision to sign Falcao as a replacement for Didier Drogba was a compromise made by the Chelsea manager when the club declined to provide the necessary funds to recruit a new striker on a full transfer.

The chances of Falcao going to Zenit are slim however, even though they could afford to pay his wage bill the club’s foreign quota would be an obstacle.
