Lyft starts operating out of Las Vegas’ McCarran airport

As such, ride-hailing service Lyft may want to hit the craps table sometime soon, because the gods are smiling on it: on Monday, the company announced that it had beaten its main rival Uber to become the first transportation network company (TNC) to service McCarran worldwide Airport, through which an average 4 million domestic and global passengers stream every month.

Uber and Lyft, which use smartphone apps to connect riders with part-time drivers of private cars, have been working to get their cars on Nevada’s streets for more than a year. And finally came to a decision that the two ride services, Lyft and Uber are authorized to operate their service in Las Vegas.

This comes six days after the Clark County Commission said Lyft and similar company Uber could start applying for temporary licenses at the airport. Customers wanting the $5 discount must use the code FLYLAS when hailing the ride.

In this case, Lyft has two zones for its drivers at McCarran global airport, one located in the parking garage across from terminal 1, and another in the parking garage across from terminal 3; both are located on the left side, says Lyft.

Those who are getting dropped off at the airport can simply be left at their airline’s designated area. “Uber is dedicated to serving riders and drivers at McCarran and to continuing a thorough process with airport officials”, said Jason Radisson, general manager of Uber Nevada. Currently, travelers face massive discrepancies from city to city. Hail as the first ride sharing vehicle service to establish at the said new location, Lyft has snatched the first-based spot from their competitor, Uber.
