New York Knicks SG Arron Afflalo to Miss Season Opener and More

The New York Knicks are another team looking to see how far they can go this season, and like most teams on the rebound, the last thing they need right now is another man down.

But that will be the situation Wednesday night, the Bucks’ 6-foot-11 Monroe going against the New York Knicks’ 7-foot Lopez at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. In addition, they will be without Afflalo for much of that stretch as he recovers from a hamstring strain.

A 4-2 preseason is in the books and, as Carmelo Anthony said: “It’s time to bring it”. Melo is the only Knick remaining from the day Phil Jackson took over as President and, after 19 months of aggressive roster turnover, tonight marks the beginning of a new era for New York’s new-look squad.

“I want to say I guess I just have to give it another two weeks or so, but it’s hard to judge”, Afflalo said Sunday.

Yet, Carmelo Anthony isn’t letting all of that misery get to him. The problem with Galloway is that he’s young and likely doesn’t know the offense as well as Vujacic, and it’s only because of his [lack of] experience. “That was my number one thing – to be healthy going into the season”.

“To be honest, if it’s lingering, then I’d rather him sit out. We’ve put pieces together and we’ve got to go out and build that”.

This should be welcome development for team president Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher who have to make the necessary adjustments due to injuries to other players. The most obvious difference from last season will be 14 feet of new starting big men – Robin Lopez and Kristaps Porzingis. “They’ve always played the game the right way”.

Fresh off of losing a franchise record 65 games in 2015, the Knicks are a dark horse to make the 2016 National Basketball Association Playoffs. He may miss more games, but if the Knicks can get him to come back earlier, they certainly will.
