Auburn preps for Ole Miss; Carl Lawson could play saturday
Gus Malzahn spoke to the media Tuesday morning ahead of Auburn’s home game against Ole Miss on Halloween. Lawson only played two or three quarters this season, but it might have been the best performance by a single Tiger all year. I have to listen to the players.

Lawson is a pass rusher who has a history of tackles for a loss. Malzahn also said Lawson is important for his “leadership alone”.
“You can see that he understands the progressions in the passing game and he’s just getting more and more comfortable each time out”.
Lawson hasn’t been healthy since a standout freshman season earned him Sporting News freshman All-American honors with 20 tackles, four sacks, and 7.5 for a loss.
“He’s excited to be back there for his team”, Malzahn said. “He’s a competitor. It’s been tough on him”. He’s went through a lot. “But he’s a kid of character and he’s a tough kid”.
Check out everything coach Malzahn had to say before the game against the Rebels in the video above.
Muschamp said Lawson went to Dr. James Andrews’ office last week for a scheduled evaluation session of his injured hip but he was unaware of any physical update to his condition. Muschamp did add that he was hopeful that “if we get him back on the practice field this week it will be a huge bonus for us from a mental standpoint as much as anything”.
Lawson, a defensive end by trade, moved to the Buck linebacker position this season for defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.
Lawson has been deemed so valuable that Auburn has taken him to road games and, though not dressed out, sent him to midfield with other captains for the coin toss.

“I mean, they’ll come when they come”, said White, whose only interception came early in his debut against Mississippi State.
