Miami Turmoil Presents Opportunities, Dangers For Blue Devils

As Duke continues to put together a surprisingly impressive season, an interesting and probably risky game looms Saturday as Miami comes to town.

Duke junior Jordan Tucker received ACC Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue Devils to consecutive conference volleyball wins over the weekend against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. Quarterback Thomas Sirk completed 19 of his 39 passes for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions. Duke will try to keep their win streak alive when they host Miami this weekend.

Now, Duke is ranked in the top 25 and Miami … well, Miami is coming off of its worst loss in school history.

Miami is in a state of disarray after the firing of head coach Al Golden Sunday. Running back Joseph Yearby couldn’t find anything going on the ground; he carried the ball 13 times for 42 yards.

“They may have a few trick play they tried to use, (a play on) special teams, you may pick up on something you wouldn’t have seen any other game”.

Sirk’s most significant play was earning the two-point PAT in the fourth overtime period that extended Duke’s record to 3-0 in the ACC, 6-1 overall, making the Blue Devils bowl-eligible for the fourth straight season. Duke is 10-4-1 against the spread in their last 15 home games.

Since Miami fired their coach there is no line yet, but i think Duke will win this game. I just know that a lot of times, with situations like these, a team will come out and they’ll have a mindset of, ‘Ok, we’re about to take over now’.
