National Football League legend Eddie George joins Chicago as Billy Flynn
Former National Football League star Eddie George is trading in his cleats for a pair of dancing shoes as he readies to make his Broadway debut next year in the musical “Chicago”. That’s where the best of the best go, and the former NFL Pro Bowler will have to continue to prove himself.

George will step into the role of Billy Flynn beginning January 11, 2016, for a seven-week limited engagement at the Ambassador Theatre through February 28. That’s the lawyer role Richard Gere played in the 2002 movie of the musical. According to The Tennessean, George has extensive acting experience in Nashville, including several Shakespeare plays.
It will be George’s Broadway debut. Since then, George has worked to refine his craft onstage, including not only the credits indicated above, but also work with his Nashville-based theatrical troupe, Actors By George, which he founded in 2012.
Chicago is the second-longest running Broadway show now and of all time and the role of Billy Flynn is no small consolation.
Football player Eddie George attends The Big Ten Network Kick Off Party at Cipriani 42nd Street on June 26, 2014 in New York City.

George is no stranger to the stage; he has appeared in “The Whipping Man”, “Topdog/Underdog” and as Othello and Julius Caesar in plays in Tennessee.
