‘Arrow’ Season 4, Episode 4 Spoilers: Laurel Faces Consequences After

The season 4 premiere episode teased that Lance has been working closely with the season’s primary villain, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) for an unknown goal.

So how did Lance get involved with Darhk? Now, Lance must play ball with Darhk – or pay the price with the death of his daughter, Laurel.

This week’s new episode of Arrow, “Beyond Redemption”, makes it appear they might be dire indeed.

“I think that the whole idea of running for mayor – intrinsic in it is that we’re going to separate the Oliver Queen and Green Arrow character because Oliver Queen as a man representing the city can do things that the Green Arrow can’t”, Amell said. Why has he made a deal with this devil, Damien Darhk?

Paul Blackthorne: Well, he seemed like a nice enough fellow to begin with. He wanted to help the city out and clean up the mess in the Season 3 finale. The Arrow is gone. Budgets are slashed. The town is in tatters and crime is rife. Like with the Oliver and Lance scene, this is another scene where relationships are turned on their head. His actions shifted. His intentions shifted. “Lance has taken the moral high ground for much of their relationship and at this point, Oliver finds himself in this position”, Blackthorne told TV Guide. Lance is in a particular hold at this point. A father seeing his returned daughter is obviously an wonderful moment for him, but at the same time he can immediately sense that something’s completely off with her and is wracked by that and can’t accept that she is truly back – which is pretty horrifying, when you’re seeing her back in the flesh but not really in spirit.

It’s a bit of a neurotic one. Is she dead? Is she alive? He can’t quite understand his own reaction because, of course, he should be delighted.

Laurel Lance will continue to face the consequences of resurrecting her sister Sara through the Lazarus Pit on Wednesday night’s all-new episode of “Arrow”.

It’s a desperate move, isn’t it? It’s becoming old hat now for Lance.

Lance sees that Oliver is a changed man these days, he’s not what he used to be – obviously Lance knew Oliver since he was a kid, through his playboy days and all the rest of it, so in those first few episodes, he’s quietly urging Oliver to step up, step out of the shadows and into the light.

The episode description hints that Oliver will come to Lance to ask for a favor – can you expand on what that entails? The same thing happens with Lance and Darhk.

Lance would be willing to do so – that’s what it was to begin with, this sort of Faustian pact. That’s when Darhk threatened Laurel. And that’s what we see in this forthcoming episode. We’ll have to see how Faustian things become.

Oliver calls Lance out on this contempt that he’s had for him over the years, especially now that the tables have turned. What did you enjoy about that quarrel and what it meant for the characters? It’s incredible, you bring the casts of three television shows, ostensibly helping to launch the new show – it’s fascinating stuff. Lance thought he was doing a good thing here because that’s how Darhk presented himself at first.

There was something deeply emotional about nearly being let down by what happened here.
