There were 168 passengers and six crew members aboard the aircraft at the time.

An American Airlines jetliner was struck by a laser Tuesday night as it prepared to land in San Diego, the airline said.

An American Airlines pilot was taken to the hospital Wednesday after a laser was pointed at his plane that was flying into San Diego. “The crew declined medical attention and there are no reports of injuries from passengers”. On September 30, a SkyWest plane coming from Los Angeles was hit with a laser flash about 10 miles east of Lindberg Field airport.

Airport authority spokeswoman Lauren Bernsen said she could not say whether the pilot was injured or was transported to a hospital as a precaution.
