Kansas City took a 3-1 lead into the eighth when Bautista homered with Ben Revere on base.
That 40-minute rain delay paused Game 6 in the middle of the eighth inning with the score tied 3-3. Houston went on to win the opener of their divisional series.
All through the post-season, Blue Jays left-hander David Price remained confident that he would deliver on the big stage.
Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Donaldson combined for 120 homers, heading up an exciting lineup that scored 10-plus runs in a club-record 26 games.
They booed when he caught fly balls in right field, and when he hit two fly balls for outs, and especially when he hit a ball deep into the left-field seats in the fourth inning for the Blue Jays’ first run. The third baseman has hit more then 10 home runs each year since 2012, when he hit 20.
It was another tension, insane game but the Royals won Game 6 of the ALCS. It won’t have the same shelf life on highlight shows, but with the Blue Jays trailing 3-1 and Wade Davis warming up in the bullpen, the ALCS homer off of Madson was just as vital to the Blue Jays’ chances. Bautista’s rocket tied the game. The Mets haven’t even visited Kansas City since 2004.
The Royals led 3-1 entering the eighth, but Jose Bautista hit a game-tying two-run home run.
Ventura was working from the stretch to keep in rhythm, and his approach appeared to be working. The ball was caught by a fan, 19-year-old Caleb Humphreys of nearby Blue Springs, Missouri, and the umpires briefly reviewed whether fan interference should be called on the play.
In the second inning, Moustakas belted a Price changeup over the right-field fence.
The Royals started the scoring early against the Blue Jays yesterday evening. But the video review confirmed the Moustakas home run.
Bautista capped off his first career playoff series by hitting an ALDS-winning home run that may be remembered as the defining moment of the 2015 Toronto Blue Jays.
That could all change by the final pitch. In the bottom of the ninth, the Royals failed to score the tying run from third base, watching Salvador Perez pop out in foul territory to end the game.
And shortly after that home run, the skies opened up and the game was delayed for 45 minutes by a drenching rain.
It will be the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets in the World Series. “You do more maintenance work when the team is in town and more specialty work when the team is out of town”. And curmudgeonly manager Ned Yost, finally cracking a smile. And it was enough to win the game!
“I want to congratulate the Kansas City Royals for a wonderful year”, Gibbons said. I can see being disappointed, angry, or sad.
Two games are scheduled to be held in Kansas City on the 27 and 28. Fireworks exploded over Kauffman Stadium. The lefty, 0-7 in seven previous postseason starts, was charged with a third run when reliever Aaron Sanchez gave up an RBI-single. Two outs later, Josh Donaldson scorched a line drive wide of third, but Moustakas went to one knee, reached out and snared it as the sellout crowd of more than roared its appreciation.
“That’s 99 percent (of the time) a fastball right there in the strike zone, ” he said. Escobar was named the series MVP. “I don’t know what happened I just kept going”. The result delivered the Royals their second American League pennant in as many years and just the fourth in franchise history.

If Ventura is locating his curveball, Yost thinks the Royals are in good shape.
