Remind them to stay on the sidewalk, visit houses on one side of the street first, and to only cross the street at marked crosswalks.
Talk to your children about putting down their electronic devices when walking or crossing the street. Make sure dogs do not get into chocolate, which can be deadly to them, he added.

Tell your children to bring home their candy to be inspected before they eat it. Put aside anything that looks suspicious.
Over the next three days, there will be plenty of Halloween-related or alternative activities for area children to enjoy, from traditional trick or treating to special events and parties. Costumes can be tons of fun, but they can also present hazards.
Keep an eye out for neighborhood dogs and understand that they can pose a threat when you approach their homes, the AAOS said.
Use make up instead of a mask so you can see.
