President Xi Jinping left Manchester on Friday, wrapping up the first visit of a Chinese state head to Britain in a decade.

Speaking of the visit, Mr Al Mubarak said: “It is an enormous honour for the City Football Academy here in Manchester to be included in the itinerary of President Xi’s state visit”.

The British government is keen to promote its “Northern Powerhouse” project, in which councils in the post-industrial north of England are being given more powers in an attempt to stimulate their economies.

The club has also been the lynchpin of major regeneration in the east of the city, while George Osborne helped open its training ground past year.

One was a memorandum of understanding – said to be worth £1 billion – for the creation of a “Garden of Ideas” in China, which appeared to be a repeat of something signed at a Chinese investment conference in London in 2014.

The prime minister says the visit has already sealed nearly 40 billion pounds ($62 billion) in business deals, including the financing of nuclear power stations which critics say is exposing sensitive industries to Chinese control.

In a China report for the British “FIRST” magazine alongside Queen Elizabeth, the Chinese president in his statement noted that the Chinese and British people share long histories and outstanding cultures, and are common in terms of welcoming new developments and changes that come with the times.

China has launched a reform plan meant to enhance players’ skills and the national team’s performance.

China is also playing an important role in Britain’s energy sector and British officials have taken steps to make it easier for Chinese tourists to make extended visits to Britain.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has told Britain he wants to see a united European Union, making his most direct comments to date on Britain’s relationship with Europe ahead of the country’s in-out EU membership referendum.

The visit has been hailed as the beginning of a “golden era” of stronger relations between China and Britain, focused on trade, cultural exchanges and investment.

Perry told Xinhua after the meeting that he had the feeling that Chinese and British enjoyed being together.

Since its founding in 1949, China has been advocating worldwide relations for peace as well as honest and friendly co-existence with other countries on the basis of equality, said Bennett.
