Peterson on seafood allergy: Eating shrimp is ‘playing with fire’
The injuries didn’t stop Peterson from talking to the Chicago media Wednesday. You might get beaten more when there’s a bear.

On Saturday, before the Vikings’ contest in Detroit on Sunday, Peterson developed an illness due to an allergic reaction to shrimp.
Peterson was also asked if he thought about what he’ll be eating on the road – the Vikings play the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.
Adrian Peterson, professional football player, is exactly as smooth as a few high school sophomores you know. I’ve beaten kids my entire life. Shrimp might just spring up a little bit. See, that’s what it is. He said on a conference call with Chicago reporters Wednesday the sickness to his stomach was the result of eating shrimp.
“Shrimp is like a little reaction”.
Peterson told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune he actually keeps an EpiPen with him because he loves shrimp so much. Those close to Peterson did not expect him to miss the game, and the first inkling of what transpired came from the television broadcast and FOX’s Chris Myers, who explained on air that Peterson, an avid smokeless tobacco user, had accidentally swallowed his dip on the flight into Detroit, causing him to feel ill. However, the All-Pro running back knows it is “playing with fire” to eat it before a game, according to Kevin Fishbain of ChicagoFootball.com.
Even after the food allergy, Peterson ran for 98 yards on 19 carries against the Lions. “My body is immune to it. It doesn’t affect me at all”.

“People would be like, ‘Why do you eat shrimp when you’re allergic to it?”, Peterson said.
