Brother of Rabin’s killer arrested over threat on Israeli president
The notoriously racist fans of Israeli soccer club Beitar Jerusalem chanted the name of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassin in homage Monday night in Tel Aviv’s Bloomfield Stadium Monday night during a game against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Ha’aretz reported based on footage aired by Israel’s Channel 2.

According to the court order, Hagai will remain under house arrest until November 8 for making “a public threat” through his Facebook profile.
“As long as I am president of the State of Israel, the murderer will not walk free”.
“As long as I am president, Yigal Amir will never be pardoned”, Rivlin said at a ceremony to commemorate Rabin on Sunday.
“Rivlin is a typical sycophantic politician”, the post read. Hagai Amir, a prolific contributor to social media, responded with an angry screed, alleging that Rivlin lacks the authority to decide his brother’s fate.
In response to Rivlin’s recent comments, Hagai Amir posted that “the time has come for Rivlin and the Zionist state to pass from this world due to the crimes they have committed against their people, and that day is not far”.
Hagai Amir’s post also said that God “determined that Rabin would die even though Rivlin and his friends didn’t exactly agree” and said the day when Rivlin departs “is not far away”.
Protesting his arrest, Amir told the police officers who took him into custody at the Glilot Police Station that “this is terrorism against a citizen to shut him up and that’s an act that violates freedom of expression”. He was found guilty of conspiracy to murder Rabin, planning attacks against Palestinians, as well as various illegal weapon possession offences.

Hagai was released in 2012, after serving 16 years in prison.
