In “live plus-3” ratings, the second episode of this season’s “Walking Dead” rose to an 8.7 rating in 18-49 and 17.1 million total viewers, leaving it down from its premiere in this category by 14% and 12% respectively.

Within 20 to 30 minutes of Glenn’s death, however, confusion set in.

“It’s entirely possible, but we haven’t really gotten into it on the show”, said Gimple of the possibility that walker blood in an open wound could prove fatal.

I told you they wouldn’t have the stones to send Glenn out that way.

Maybe it was the entrails of Michael Traynor’s Nicholas, who shot himself in the head, that made you groan, throw up a little in your mouth and look away.

David Alpert, executive producer of the zombie thriller, isn’t saying for sure.

In a recent interview, TVLine asked showrunner Scott M. Gimple if he has any backlash concerns surrounding Glenn’s fate, and though he did not directly answer the question, he said that he “definitely want[s] viewers to have an emotional experience” whether Glenn is already dead or still alive. The Walking Dead may have suffered a death more fatal than that of Glenn Rhee, Vanity Fair suggested: It had suffered the death of plausibility.

You were expecting a spoiler? Granted, confirmation of Negan’s introduction doesn’t guarantee that Glenn will fulfill the same role as we’ve come to expect, though cast and crew have frequently addressed their interest in arriving at the famed sequence. Is Glenn dead? What happens next? Hauled down into a horde of the malicious, vicious walkers, we all had to sit there and watch one of the show’s most beloved characters getting his innards dragged out from his body. Write an ending in the comments.
