That means Mondesi will have a chance to become the first player in big league history to make his debut in the World Series. If the 20-year-old gets into a game, he would be the first player to make his Major League Baseball debut in the World Series, according to Stats LLC.

Baseball America named Mondesi the Royals’ top prospect and the No. 25 prospect in the game earlier this summer in its midseason review. Mondesi will not pick up service time for his short stay with the big-league club and will likely return to the minors in 2016 with Northwest Arkansas, Double-A affiliate of the Royals.
Uribe hit 14 home runs this season, including six in 128 at-bats for New York.
