Google Adds Gameplay Recording To Play Games App

Google is also readying a SDK that upon its release, will allow game developers to integrate the recording function directly into their own apps and games.

Google Play Games is the hub of all things mobile gaming on Android, keeping track of achievements or helping you find that next mobile gaming addition.

After your recording is finished, you can view the video in your library, or edit it in the YouTube app and upload it directly to your channel. A couple of weeks ago the YouTube Gaming app got the ability to broadcast live streams from your mobile device.

The Google Play Games app for Android is gaining a new feature that’ll let you record your gameplay and then upload it to YouTube.

They’ll even be able to add audio commentary and a thumbnail video of themselves using the front-facing camera to accompany the action on screen. The video recorded this way is either in 480p or 720p resolution, depending what kind of file size you want.

Removing those barriers is an important first step, according to Duncan Curtis, product manager for Google Play Games.

The Google Play update will begin rolling out to USA and United Kingdom users in the next few days, with more countries expected to receive the update shortly after.

Seeking to capitalize upon this new mania of gameplay, Google has added a brand new feature to its Google Play Games app that will now let users record and publish their gaming sessions to the world at large. It’s not clear if this will require a new APK or if it’s all server-side.
