Indianapolis restaurant owner offers 25 per cent discount to legal GUN OWNERS

After the robbery, Bouvier was told by customers who had their conceal-carry permit that they would have stepped in, which was the inspiration for the 25 percent discount to customers who show proof they can legally carry a gun.

So declared Art Bouvier, owner of Papa Roux Cajun restaurant in Indianapolis.

Bouvier first made the announcement Sunday in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. Papa Roux had never been robbed before Saturday, the 25th of October, 2015. But, he wrote,”If thugs are going to come in and threaten OUR extended family with guns, you’d better believe I will use every trick I know to protect (our family). And until further notice, you’ll get 25 percent off your bill”.

The restaurant also installed several security cameras.

“Love Art Bouvier’s reaction to being robbed!” wrote another.

“We’re not saying, ‘Show us your gun.’ But if you’re a legal and stable carrier of a concealed carry license, I’m going to reward that”, he said.

Business at an Indianapolis restaurant is heating up now that there’s a discount for people who are packing heat.

“The word needs to get out”, said owner Art Bouvier, speaking about those people in line with a license to carry a handgun.

“And they thought quickly and calmly, and the entire incident was resolved with very little damage and even with no real alarm to customers”.

In an email to FOX News, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said: “It is not against the law to carry a handgun with a permit and for a business to offer a discount”.

Whether to encourage – or discourage – gun owners from carrying guns to restaurants has been a controversial issue in the US. Diners pack the restaurant at lunch time, ordering from a variety of Cajun-style items – with the hand-breaded catfish po’ boy in greatest demand.

A few longtime customers have told Bouvier they are upset with his decision.
