Van Gaal: I am very proud of them
On Wayne Rooney scoring against his former club: “I am not interested who is scoring the goals, the team has to score and we have scored three times as a team, and we could have scored five times I think”.

But Van Gaal says the responsibility is on all his players to take advantage of the chances being created by the team.
The Everton boss said: “I think the records and the previous performances and results mean very little”.
“It was a great win away from home”, Lingard told MUTV.
“I have seen a lot of individual players today who played very good”.
He said: “It is true a few players are affected but I don’t believe [Rooney is], with his personality”.
“I am a very happy coach”, he said. “Maybe against Everton that can change, but I have heard his average there is not so good, so it is getting time that he changed that pattern (sic)”.
“I’m very happy for him, but for me it is not important if he scores or not”, added Van Gaal of Rooney, whose side remain third, below Arsenal on goal difference, ahead of next weekend’s derby with leaders Manchester City. It was the 29-year-old’s second league goal this season and his first in eight years at his old stomping ground. The pair each scored in the first half to give United a comfortable lead, while Marcos Rojo was also heavily in both goals and enjoyed a solid defensive display. “We’ve spoken about this [Arsenal result]”. And in April, Van Gaal saw his team suffer a chastening 3-0 loss in the middle of what was a three-game losing run. “Before the last global break in September we lost against Swansea”.
Shaw was rated as “50-50” for the 2016 European Championship finals by the England manager, Roy Hodgson, and while Van Gaal urged caution with that target he was pleased with the defender’s progress. And the Spaniard played a big part in United effectively sealing victory just past the hour mark.
“Like Roy Hodgson says maybe it is 50-50 because it is possible, but it is dependable on the rehabilitation and you can not say it now that he is going”. “We have to go to Russian Federation in the week and the group is still very equal”.
