Coast Guard investigating after man’s laser allegedly hits ferry captain
Two captains aboard a Washington state ferry were injured Thursday night when State Patrol investigators say two men pointed a laser at the wheelhouses as the vessel was approaching the Clinton Ferry Terminal.

A laser was allegedly fired at the ferry Tokitae as it approached the Mukilteo ferry terminal.
The Daily Herald reports a man in his mid-20s aimed the laser while on a ferry to Mukilteo on the morning of October 22. The captain reportedly thought the laser was coming from the passing boat.
The laser is much more powerful than ones cats chase around the living room floor, Sterling said. “He does have a few Injuries”.
One suffered third-degree burns to an eyelid and damage to a retina.
The Tokitae was not far from the dock and made it safely back to land as Washington State Patrol started its investigation on the Kitsap.
The man told police he was just shining his new toy into the water. According to Washington State Ferry officials, both the captain and the first mate were in the boat’s wheelhouse, and noticed the laser appeared to be originating from the ferry boat Kitsap, which was passing at the time.
“It’s something now that we obviously have to live with and look for moving forward”, Mooney said.
“That’s why (the trooper investigating) is in consultation with the prosecutor’s office”.
Sterling said the situation could have been unsafe.
