Dublin Named Third Best City In World To Visit

Kotor in Montengero was placed top of the list with Quito in Ecuador at number two ahead of Dublin.

A new book, Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel, singled out the northern town as being “the UK’s cultural boomtown” amid regeneration in the area.

Fremantle has been named as Australia’s top destination for 2016, with highly-regarded travel guide Lonely Planet placing it seventh in its annual Best in Travel – top 10 cities list. Third in the list is Dublin, Ireland.

Now a best bet for budget travelers, Australia ranks #6 on Lonely Planet’s list of best places to visit in 2016.

A few of Dublin’s featured areas include visiting the Little Museum’s Brilliant City of a Thousand Welcomes exhibit, following the Independence Trail around key sites of the city, jumping into the Irish Sea at the Forty Foot in Sandycove or having a pint at Mulligan’s on Poolbeg St. Do you have any recommendations for people who’ll be traveling to the city?

“More visitors to the region creates more jobs, more money for the economy and helps support the development of better infrastructure to accelerate the transformation of Auckland to the world’s most liveable city”.

The city’s football heritage – which boasts Premier League sides Manchester City and Manchester United – was also noted along with its boutique shops on South King Street and the “industrial chic” dining room at Manchester House.

The Best In Travel recommendations are drawn from submissions by Lonely Planet staff, authors and extended community of travellers, bloggers and tweeters, before being refined by a panel of in-house travel experts.

Tourism minister Paschal Donohoe said the news was “fantastic” and suggested thast it would “propel Dublin even further by encouraging a greater number of visitors to pay us a visit”.

“More than that, it reinforces Dublin as a “must-visit” destination which offers an incredible variety of experiences to its visitors”, said Carroll.
