YouTube Red Creators to Get Paid During Free Trial Period

What’s left unclear in YouTube‘s plan is how it will determine the size of the pie it plans to divide up between creators.

While this may seem enticing, YouTube is taking what was once a simple, free website containing thousands of videos and making it less accessible and more expensive for users, which may turn them away. Google’s Music Key Beta was ad-free, and subscribers said they would like that option for YouTube. The only problems here are that (a) we have no idea how many people are actually subscribing to Google Music Play, (b) that number is rumored to be pretty low, and (c) we’re not sure what percentage of the probably low number YouTube will ultimately share with you, the content creator.

With the cost of cable packages these days, I’m one of the many who chose to cut my cable cord in favor of online services like YouTube, Twitch and Vimeo for my video consumption.

YouTube denied this, saying that creators would get “a portion of the revenue” it makes from subscribers to Google’s streaming music service.

Here, we are going to teach you how to download, then watch, YouTube videos for offline viewing with the YouTube and YouTube Gaming Android apps.

Meanwhile, YouTube has acquired exclusive rights to an initial slate of 10 original series and movies, including the “Scare PewDiePie” reality-adventure series with the YouTube video-game megastar and Rooster Teeth’s “Lazer Team” sci-fi action-comedy.

“Creators are the lifeblood of YouTube”, said the company in a blog post.

By committing upfront to a payment scheme that keeps YouTube creators earning during the trial period, YouTube Red avoids a potentially crippling PR blow like the one dealt to Apple Music, which controversially refused to pay artists during its trial phase. Sarah aggregates all of her content across multiple channels on her blog, Hopscotch The Globe, to maintain her own personal brand outside of YouTube or any other platform. Apple originally said it would not compensate artists for their music played during its three-month free trial. Plus, you get Google Play Music as well, and vice versa, if you already have a subscription to the music streaming service.
