In a press conference this morning, KCSO Sheriff Donny Youngblood couldn’t even begin to make sense of missing Deputy Edward Tucker.
Authorities are searching the Bakersfield, Calif., area Thursday for a sheriff’s deputy who escaped from a patrol auto after being arrested for allegedly brandishing a gun at a 12-year-old girl, according to local media. He was found at San Lauren Park in the 4400 block of Mohawk Street in Rosedale with a vehicle.
The 44-year-old was arrested but released from jail. Deputies found drugs, guns and possible bomb-making materials in his vehicle. The other, Youngblood said, focuses on the actions of two deputies who were so focused on a computer and filling out forms before booking Tucker that they didn’t notice him escape. “So it’s apparent that he has access to firearms”, Pruitt said.
Tucker had been on leave for about a year, while disciplinary proceedings took place, Youngblood said. Earlier Tuesday Pruitt said he couldn’t say whether that leave was paid or unpaid, as it involved a personnel matter.
Tucker was first arrested Saturday night. He was arrested again Tuesday for being under the influence of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm and possession of methamphetamine and an illegal weapon, according to a sheriff’s department statement.
Tucker is considered risky.
A California sheriff’s deputy who had been sought after getting free from handcuffs and a patrol vehicle after his arrest Tuesday has been caught, officials said Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Office asked that anyone with information on Tucker’s whereabouts call 861-3110 or Secret Witness at 322-4040.

Tucker is described as white with closely cropped black hair and wearing black shorts, a black buttoned-up shirt and sandals.
